J. Simpson Studio

THE JEAN SIMPSON STUDIO and ARTISTS-IN-RESIDENCE

Founded in 2004 in collaboration with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and named in honour of CAMH’s former Chief Operating Officer, this natural light-filled workspace enables up to eight artists create work, free of charge, for 3 or 4 month periods. Workman Arts is able to provide the artists with only limited supplies. Though the space is self-managed, an Artist-in-Residence provides support to artists working in the Studio.

Due to the redevelopment of the CAMH property at 1001 Queen Street West, the Jean Simpson Studio will close in May 2009 and the new artists studio will open at 651 Dufferin Street on May 19, 2009.

Any Workman Arts Member is eligible to use the artist studio. Artists interested in applying for a studio space should contact Matthew Hogue at 416.583.4339.
